MCRS

Manufacturing Capability Reliability Score

MCRS rates supplier performance by capability area, not by one generic average. Small specialist shops can score highly in their exact domain and still win the right work.

The Scoring Algorithm

Scores are calculated out of 100 points based on objective platform data, not subjective reviews.

35

Quality

First-pass yield, dimensional accuracy, and adherence to specifications.

25

Delivery

On-time delivery rate against committed schedule.

15

Lead-Time

Competitiveness and consistency of quoted lead times.

10

Responsiveness

Communication speed during quoting and production.

10

Issue Resolution

Speed and effectiveness when handling non-conformances.

5

Repeat Success

Consistency across multiple jobs with the same client.

Capability-Specific Domains

A shop might be world-class at 5-axis machining but average at welding. MCRS tracks these separately.

MCRS-FAB

Fabrication reliability

Sheet metal, welding, structural assembly.

MCRS-MACH

Machining reliability

CNC milling, turning, multi-axis precision.

MCRS-FIN

Finishing reliability

Anodizing, powder coating, plating, painting.

MCRS-ASM

Assembly reliability

Mechanical and electromechanical integration.

How a score evolves (step by step)

  1. 1

    Baseline from early delivery

New capability lanes start in a provisional window. Scores stabilize as Taktum records outcomes across real jobs in that lane.

  2. 2

    Rolling performance window

MCRS uses a rolling view of recent work so a single bad week does not define a shop—but sustained excellence or repeated misses will move the needle.

  3. 3

    Evidence and confidence

Photos, inspection reports, FAIR packages, and structured QC checkpoints increase confidence in a lane when they are submitted for eligible jobs.

  4. 4

    Lane isolation

Fabrication, machining, finishing, and assembly are scored independently so specialists are not penalized for processes they do not offer.

  5. 5

    Badges and visibility

Higher scores and confidence unlock clearer buyer-facing signals inside the portal, while manufacturers see targeted guidance on what to improve next.

Confidence & Badges

Scores also include a Confidence Level (Low, Medium, High) based on the volume of data. Public badges are only awarded to shops with a score of 85+ and High confidence.

How Shops Improve

MCRS is a rolling 12-month average. Shops improve by delivering consistently, communicating proactively, and resolving issues quickly. Old mistakes naturally age out of the score.

Case Study: The Impact of MCRS

For Buyers: Instead of trusting a shop that claims they can "do it all", MCRS highlights a supplier's actual track record. A buyer sourcing complex 5-axis aerospace parts sees a shop with an MCRS-MACH 94 (High Confidence), providing data-backed assurance before an order is ever placed.

For Manufacturers: A specialized finishing shop might struggle to stand out in a traditional directory. With MCRS, their consistent on-time delivery and zero-defect rate in anodizing translates to an MCRS-FIN 98. This metric pushes them to the top of routing algorithms for high-priority finishing jobs, rewarding real reliability over marketing budgets.
